The King of the Netherlands decorates the Spanish architects Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos for the remodeling of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
This is the first time that Spanish architects are awarded with such a prestigious distinction that in the past was awarded to figures such as Nobel Prize winner JM Coetzee and the director of the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam Orchestra, Mariss Jansons.
Until 13 April this year, just one year after its re-opening, the Rijksmuseum has received a record number of 2.8 million visitors.
The awards ceremony was held at 7:00 pm on April 22 at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, and was attended by the director of the Rijksmuseum, Wim Pijbes.
