Antonio Cruz pointed out that the building of the faculty of medicine “is part of a powerful intervention” inserted in the general development of the PTS, and therefore “has a fundamental point of reference in its form, composition and performance in the urban planning” of all the Technopolis. The building is composed of three similar volumes, a horizontal band of two plants more basement for general and educational purposes, and a tower of nine plants for departments. The three parts are connected through gateways. Following the organization provided for in the comprehensive plan of the campus bio, three very horizontal buildings topped at the end with areas of greater number of plants, the faculty of medicine houses its teaching part – classrooms, laboratories, etc-in only two plants, thus minimizing vertical displacements. The areas of research and departments occupy the higher parts of the buildings. “Faculty of medicine we proposed is displayed now as final and with the possibilities contemplated”, said Antonio Cruz, who praised the course of “Bio-health architecture” because in his view in a sector that has many possibilities for future professionals, and by the requirement representing biomedical structures. ‘Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos Studio has just received another award which recognizes its intervention in the National Museum of Holland, the Rijksmuseum located in Amsterdam, for its exemplary recovery and respect for the original project and collaboration with the Dutch government.
