An elliptical floor was chosen because it gives the best response to the triangular shape of the site than any other shape derived from the rectangle. The curved perimeter allows us to move away from nearby dwellings more so than if we had kept parallel with the front of them. The oval shape of the stands also allows the spectators to be situated as close to the pitch as possible, decreasing the maximum view distance.
The chosen unit volume is distorted towards the west, growing by floor and section by means of overhanging sections that permit the implementation of the most specific design in this area of the bleachers. The same gesture orients the stadium towards the entrance roads to the city, affirming its presence in the surroundings as a necessarily unique piece.
Regarding the roof, a geometry generated by two perpendicular parabolas, one sliding over the other, creating a developable surface with a slight curvature. This geometry, which gently reaches a sufficient height over the field to provide illumination, allows the entire roof to be covered with glass panels incorporating photovoltaic cells. Thus, the transparency of the roof may vary depending on the areas, and all this is linked to energy production.
The facade is constructed with vertical elements of pressed glass and 80% recycled, thus using one of the few vitreous materials that meets the highest standards of sustainability.
The translucent nature of the building converts it into a lamp during the night. The lighting repeats the same mechanism as the volume, starting from a very low intensity eastward (the area of housing) and growing towards the west, where the successive overhangs are produced.
