This area is marked by the proximity of the lake. The presence of the lake at the plot ‑or better said, at the plots, as there are two of them‑ is even stronger since it is the point where the Hornbach –the stream‑ reaches its mouth. Hence the original gesture of this project: the chamfering of the building at both corners of Hornbachstrasse, an aspect that strives to be not only an opening gesture, but also one of celebration.
From this point, the northernmost building, which faces Bellerivestrasse, appears to be divided into three bodies that, together with the final touches of the southern block, form a series, a succession of gables whose large gaps are unique and express the proximity of the lake across the street. The need to reduce the noise from Bellerivestrasse alone makes it necessary to give continuity to the lower floors that act as a shield for the inner courtyard.
By projecting a vertical core every two homes, every home and terrace open up towards the south while also receiving cross ventilation. The undeniable, improved quality of the homes will be accompanied by a decrease in their energy needs.
The continuity of the lower floors of the northern plot has made it possible to soundproof the inner courtyard. Only the common areas of the senior housing, on the top floor, open up towards Bellerivestrasse with large covered terraces. A nursery is located on the ground floor of the northern block.
